Teacher of the Deaf in Carthage, NC

This role encompasses both part-time openings for Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI), with the option to combine the positions into a full-time schedule.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Visual Impairment
• Strong communication and advocacy skills for students with sensory impairments
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with educators, families, and specialists
• Previous school-based experience preferred

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and adapting instructional materials to meet individual student needs
• Providing direct instruction and support to DHH and visually impaired students
• Collaborating with general educators, specialists, and families to optimize learning outcomes
• Monitoring student progress and documenting growth toward educational objectives
• Conducting assessments and participating in IEP meetings
• Offering consultation and training to staff on best practices for accessibility and inclusion
