Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in school settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive communication technologies
- Knowledge of best practices in differentiated instruction and IEP development
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs
- Assess student progress, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Foster an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that promotes literacy and language development
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to support student integration and success
- Provide guidance, support, and resources to families, ensuring effective communication channels
- Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
