Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience supporting students with hearing impairments in a school setting preferred
  • Familiarity with assistive listening devices, American Sign Language, and alternative communication methods
  • Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and specialists to design accessible curriculum
  • Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to students’ unique needs
  • Adapt curriculum materials for accessibility and actively participate in IEP meetings
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary
  • Offer guidance and training to school staff on effective strategies for supporting hearing-impaired students
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, progress, and interventions
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student confidence
