Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • State teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sign language and auditory/oral communication methods
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong collaboration skills, including comfort working with families and staff
  • Previous experience supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in school settings is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in individual and group settings
  • Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives focused on language, communication, and academic success
  • Partner with general education teachers and support staff to ensure proper classroom accommodations are in place
  • Track student progress and participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences
  • Serve as a resource to school teams, sharing expertise in strategies, classroom modifications, and assistive technology
