This part-time contract opportunity near Charlotte, NC, focuses on providing specialized instruction and educational guidance for a small group of four students. Your expertise will help foster communication, confidence, and academic success in a welcoming school environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Background or degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a closely related field
- Strong knowledge of hearing assistive technologies and strategies for diverse learners
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities as required by individual students
- Collaborative, flexible approach to partnering with general and special educators, families, and support staff
- Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes each week to a caseload of four students
- Adapt general curriculum to meet the unique communication and learning needs of each student
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
- Consult with teachers and staff regarding accommodations, modifications, and effective classroom integration
- Engage with parents to promote continuity of learning and advocate for each student’s success
- Maintain up-to-date records in compliance with educational guidelines and policies
