Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing supporting students in the Chattanooga area. This full-time, contract opportunity begins August 5, 2026, and continues through May 19, 2027, offering a chance to enrich educational access for students across various grade levels. You'll work 35 hours a week, with the number of assigned schools varying based on evolving district needs. The caseload and age group assignments will be shared soon, as the district is in the process of finalizing details for next academic year.

Qualifications & Licensure:

  • Valid and active Department of Education teaching certification required
  • Fingerprinting and background checks must be completed as part of the onboarding process
  • Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of strategies, technology, and instructional methods for DHH students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with teams, families, and support staff

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the school setting
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet students’ auditory and language access needs
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP development and review
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, student support staff, and families to create accessible learning environments
  • Support and monitor students’ progress toward established goals
