Desired Qualifications:

  • Current state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
  • Experience working in school settings, preferably with K-12 students
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various communication modalities
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and IEP goals
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Open to both experienced educators and motivated new graduates passionate about Deaf education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and support tailored for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across academic subjects
  • Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in partnership with educational teams
  • Facilitate effective communication among students, staff, and families
  • Advocate for accessibility and facilitate resources, accommodations, and assistive technologies
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Stay abreast of current best practices in Deaf education and incorporate them into teaching
