Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Cheney, WA

Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing on a contract assignment near Cheney, WA. This role offers the opportunity to empower students through specialized instruction and advocacy, collaborating with educational teams to foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment. You'll work with children and adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them access their education and develop communication and life skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for state credentials
• Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in school settings
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
• Ability to adapt and modify curriculum based on students’ individual needs and IEP goals
• Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
• Passion for fostering inclusivity and equal access to education

Primary responsibilities:

• Design and implement instructional plans tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Support students across various grade levels, both individually and in groups
• Advise and collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and support staff
• Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and parent consultations
• Advocate for student needs and accommodations within the school community
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and support services
