Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication, etc.)
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent collaborative skills with educators, staff, and families
  • Creative problem-solving and flexibility to adapt strategies for diverse learners
  • Compassion, patience, and sensitivity to each student’s unique journey

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, documenting progress and adjusting goals as needed
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, support staff, and families
  • Provide consultative services and training to school personnel and caregivers
  • Support the integration of assistive technologies and communication tools in classroom settings
  • Advocate for students’ needs and foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment
