Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Cleveland, TN

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Valid state certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
• Experience working in school settings with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities for Deaf education
• Ability to modify curriculum and assessments to meet individual needs
• Understanding of IEP development and implementation

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Assess student abilities and develop individualized educational plans
• Work in partnership with classroom teachers, specialists, and families
• Provide guidance and resources on best practices for accessibility and inclusion
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Support advocacy and self-advocacy skills for students
