Qualifications:

  • Valid state licensure and/or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of audiological equipment, assistive listening devices, and amplification systems
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities
  • Previous experience in a school environment is highly beneficial

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with hearing impairments across various age groups and academic levels
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service professionals to promote student development
  • Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and ensure alignment with state and federal guidelines
  • Educate families, school staff, and peers about deaf awareness and communication strategies
  • Track and document student progress, providing regular updates and recommendations
