Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure and/or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of audiological equipment, assistive listening devices, and amplification systems
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate individual education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities
- Previous experience in a school environment is highly beneficial
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with hearing impairments across various age groups and academic levels
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service professionals to promote student development
- Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and ensure alignment with state and federal guidelines
- Educate families, school staff, and peers about deaf awareness and communication strategies
- Track and document student progress, providing regular updates and recommendations
