Make a real impact educating and supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a vibrant school community on a contract basis. This role provides a unique opportunity to tailor instruction and foster communication skills in students with hearing impairments, making a lasting positive difference in their academic journey.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Familiarity with various communication modalities, including ASL, Total Communication, and auditory-oral methods
  • Proven ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, therapists, and families
  • Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lessons for individual needs
  • Assess student strengths and needs, and craft data-driven goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom experiences
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and families, providing resources and strategies
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with educational and legal standards
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff development sessions
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere for all learners
