Essential Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or endorsement, or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes as appropriate to student needs
• Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to adapt instructional materials and strategies for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction, support, and advocacy to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ academic, language, and communication skills
• Adapt and modify classroom material to ensure accessibility
• Facilitate language development, auditory skills training, and self-advocacy skills
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing data collection and progress monitoring
• Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that celebrates diversity and student strengths
