Teacher of the Deaf in Cordova, TN

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching credentials or certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
• Experience in educational settings working with DHH students (preferred)
• Strong grasp of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used within the deaf community
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Current background check and required clearances

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Deliver direct instruction in academic subjects and language development for DHH students
• Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods for optimal student engagement and accessibility
• Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and support staff
• Serve as a resource for staff and families on best practices and strategies for inclusion
• Maintain student progress records and participate in IEP meetings
• Advocate for student needs within the school environment
