This contract role provides the opportunity to work directly with students, educators, and families to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment. Your specialized skills will help foster academic growth and communication development for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Commitment to promoting student independence and empowerment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Provide direct instruction and support in both individual and group settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students and families, offering guidance on accommodations and assistive technologies
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school and state requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities
