Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Strong collaboration skills for working with general education staff, support personnel, and families
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and visual communication strategies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging, accessible instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods to ensure effective learning outcomes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech pathologists, audiologists, and counselors
- Facilitate communication and advocate for students’ needs within the school community
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings with families and staff
- Provide training and consultation to teachers and staff regarding best practices for supporting students with hearing impairments
