Begin your next adventure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, working within a vibrant educational community in the northern Nashville area. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to support students ranging from kindergarten through twelfth grade, providing consultative services as part of a collaborative, student-centered team. You'll play a crucial role in facilitating access to education for children with hearing differences, while gaining experience across varying age groups and school settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Tennessee Department of Education Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience or training in supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings.
- Ability to work consultatively with teachers, support staff, students, and families.
- Willingness to travel within the district, as assignments and hubs may vary.
- Must successfully complete new fingerprinting requirements set by the district.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students K-12, according to individual needs and IEP goals.
- Support both students and general education teachers in implementing best practices for inclusive learning environments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within district hubs (Pre-K through Middle School), participating in IEP meetings and progress monitoring.
- Provide resources and training to staff regarding adaptive equipment, communication strategies, and accommodations.
- Maintain timely records, communication logs, and compliance with district policies and state regulations.
This contract follows the school calendar, with a start date of August 3, 2026, and ends on May 28, 2027. The position is based onsite at district hubs, offering a dynamic experience within a growing DHH program.
