Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working as a Teacher for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and their implementation
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by students with hearing loss
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Commitment to cultivating a positive, accessible, and supportive learning setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students with hearing impairments, adapting methods and materials to support learning objectives
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in cooperation with the special education team and families
- Utilize appropriate assessment tools to measure progress and adapt strategies as needed
- Advocate for student needs within the classroom and school community, ensuring accessibility
- Advise and support general education teachers about accommodations and strategies for students with hearing challenges
- Foster a classroom environment where students can express themselves and build confidence
