Make a lasting difference in the educational journey of students with hearing challenges as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to provide specialized support across a districtwide caseload, working primarily in a consultative capacity with early childhood through transition-age students. You’ll collaborate directly on-site with school staff and families throughout the Richmond area and broader district, designing and adapting educational plans to meet the diverse needs of your students.
Your Qualifications:
- Valid Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching credential and CTC required
- Proven experience in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong background in consultative service delivery across various educational settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with educators, parents, and other service providers
- Ability to travel between school sites as an itinerant teacher within the district
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing differences across multiple schools
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, implement, and monitor individualized educational plans
- Support teachers, staff, and families with strategies and resources to foster accessible learning environments
- Conduct assessments and document student progress regularly
- Advocate for reasonable accommodations and inclusion practices districtwide
