A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, supporting students in a dynamic educational environment just northeast of Columbia, SC. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification)
  • Degree in Deaf Education or closely related field
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education processes
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used by DHH students
  • Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with staff, families, and related service providers

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver differentiated instruction to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring strategies for varied learning needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor educational plans and accommodations according to students’ IEPs
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture supporting language development and academic growth
  • Collaborate with general educators and related services staff to promote student success in both classroom and community settings
  • Communicate regularly with families, offering guidance and updates on student progress
