Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting preferred
- Strong skills in developing and adapting lesson plans to accommodate various learning needs
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, using individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Adapt general education curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students served
- Utilize a variety of communication methods, including sign language and assistive technology
- Conduct assessments to monitor progress and determine students’ needs
- Consult and collaborate with school staff and families to promote an inclusive learning experience
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of student plans
- Maintain detailed records and documentation as needed by the school or district
