Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Previous experience teaching K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency in language development strategies, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum adaptation
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and educational teams
  • Comfortable with both in-person and remote (virtual) instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, ensuring access to the general curriculum
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement IEP accommodations and modifications
  • Monitor student progress and maintain documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
  • Provide consultation and training for school personnel and families on best practices in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where students can thrive academically and socially
