Empower students to excel by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to an inclusive learning environment. This full-time, onsite contract role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference, providing direct instruction and support as you travel between a middle school and two elementary schools. The position runs from August 11, 2026, through May 24, 2027, and is ideal for a compassionate, flexible educator who thrives in dynamic, collaborative school settings.

Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) endorsement required
  • Experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Familiarity with IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Comfortable with itinerant work across multiple campuses

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and classroom support for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other service providers to create inclusive plans
  • Assess student progress, contribute to IEP meetings, and provide relevant recommendations
  • Offer consultative support and training for staff, ensuring accessibility across learning environments
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages academic and social growth
  • Maintain accurate records and communication with families and school teams
