This contract opportunity is based near Dover, DE and is perfect for licensed educators who are passionate about inclusive education and student success.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for appropriate state licensure)
- Expertise in designing and adapting curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of current best practices in deaf education, including assistive technologies and communication modes (ASL, Signed English, oral methods, etc.)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and school teams
- Previous experience in school settings preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments in a variety of educational environments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Adapt materials and lesson plans to ensure accessibility and meaningful participation
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting positive student engagement
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support academic progress and social-emotional development
- Provide consultative support and strategies to general education staff, families, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
