Qualifications:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Previous experience in a school environment is highly desired
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Ability to create and implement effective IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
- Up-to-date knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive strategies
- Flexibility to accommodate diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing loss
- Adapt lesson plans and classroom materials to promote accessibility
- Support general education teachers in the inclusion of DHH students
- Participate in IEP meetings, ensuring compliance and appropriate goal-setting
- Provide consultative services to staff and families to maximize student success
- Utilize and train staff on relevant assistive devices and technologies
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate
