Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Dover, DE

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for appropriate state licensure)
• Expertise in designing and adapting curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Strong understanding of current best practices in deaf education, including assistive technologies and communication modes (ASL, Signed English, oral methods, etc.)
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and school teams
• Previous experience in school settings preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments in a variety of educational environments
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
• Adapt materials and lesson plans to ensure accessibility and meaningful participation
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting positive student engagement
• Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support academic progress and social-emotional development
• Provide consultative support and strategies to general education staff, families, and related service providers
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
