This part-time position is approximately 20 hours per week, offering the flexibility often sought by experienced educators. For candidates seeking a fuller schedule and who hold the appropriate license, there is potential to expand into a special education placement as well.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with K-12 students in either direct or itinerant roles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and instructional strategies for DHH students.
- Strong collaboration skills for working with other educators, administrators, and families.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites as part of the itinerant model.
- Special education license is a plus, especially if seeking a full-time role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials and teaching style to individual needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other professionals to modify curriculum and support student inclusion.
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records.
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise and insight for DHH students.
- Support students’ social and emotional development in addition to academic goals.
- Serve as a resource for families and school staff regarding hearing loss and communication strategies.
