Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting is highly valued
  • Knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL) and/or spoken language approaches
  • Strong advocacy skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to individual student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to DHH students’ unique strengths and challenges
  • Provide both direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and families
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching materials to support accessibility and student engagement
  • Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, speech therapists, interpreters, and families to promote inclusion and academic growth
  • Foster a culturally and linguistically responsive learning environment
