Key Qualifications:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain
  • Proven experience providing services in educational settings, preferably schools
  • Proficiency with assistive listening devices and accessibility tools
  • Strong skills in developing and adapting curriculum to various learning needs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and advocacy for students

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ abilities, needs, and progress
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure classroom accessibility
  • Serve as a resource for families regarding hearing loss and student advocacy
  • Develop and maintain thorough records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity in communication
