Key Qualifications:

• Valid state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of instructional strategies tailored for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required; written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Experience collaborating with general education teachers, specialists, and families.
• Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
• Previous experience within school settings preferred, but not required.

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing loss, using individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
• Consult and collaborate with general and special education staff, interpreters, and support personnel.
• Facilitate effective communication between students and the broader school community.
• Provide resources, advocacy, and support to families and caregivers.
• Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and professional development as needed.
• Promote a positive, inclusive environment that fosters student confidence and independence.
