Support students in reaching their full communication potential by working as a dedicated educator for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. In this contract-based role, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure every student receives the customized support needed to thrive in the classroom and beyond. Provide direct instruction, consultation, and advocacy, helping to bridge the gap to equal educational opportunities.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification)
  • Proven experience or training working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of sign language modalities, assistive listening devices, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, families, and administrators
  • Ability to tailor communication and instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and related documentation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students in accordance with IEP goals and district curricula
  • Assess student strengths and needs, contributing to IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Facilitate access to the general education curriculum by recommending and supporting appropriate accommodations
  • Offer consultation and training to classroom teachers and staff on effective strategies
  • Develop materials and instructional plans that are linguistically and culturally responsive
  • Support families in understanding their child’s educational program and progress
