Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant area
- Experience supporting high school-aged students with hearing differences
- Proficiency with different communication modalities such as ASL, lip reading, and assistive technology
- Strong ability to develop individual education plans (IEPs) tailored for DHH students
- Collaborative mindset for working with school staff, families, and related service providers
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
- Adaptability and commitment to supporting diverse learning needs in an in-person setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to one high school student with hearing loss
- Assess student progress, maintaining thorough documentation and adapting strategies as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Provide guidance to students, staff, and families regarding best practices for communication and learning
- Contribute to meetings, case conferences, and the ongoing development of effective educational plans
