Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to improve ASL fluency
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with parents, specialists, and school teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Passion for fostering growth and confidence in learners of all abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, using appropriate communication methods
  • Assist in developing and modifying lesson plans to ensure accessibility
  • Work closely with school staff to promote inclusive practices and advocate for student accommodations
  • Monitor student progress, track achievements, and communicate regularly with families
  • Support transitions between grade levels, classrooms, or communication modalities as needed
  • Participate in meetings, provide training for colleagues, and maintain accurate records
