Qualifications:

  • Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • ASL proficiency or familiarity with other communication modes used in deaf education
  • Previous experience working with deaf/hard-of-hearing students in educational settings is a plus
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
  • Sound understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with hearing loss

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom activities to meet unique learning needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies, as needed
  • Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and other communication technology in the classroom
  • Offer consultation, training, and support to school teams and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, provide progress updates, and contribute expertise to educational planning
