Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification to teach Deaf / Hard of Hearing students (or eligibility for licensure)
- Previous experience teaching or working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used by students
- Collaborative attitude and ability to partner with general educators, specialists, and families
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible educational experiences
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and instruction for Deaf / Hard of Hearing learners
- Provide direct instruction, consultation, and support to students both in inclusive and specialized settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service staff to ensure accessibility and success
- Offer resources and training to colleagues and families on effective strategies and technology use
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and ongoing professional learning
