Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field preferred
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
  • Familiarity with various communication modes (ASL, oral communication, cued speech, etc.)
  • Strong collaboration and advocacy skills
  • Comfortable adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Provide direct instruction and academic support to students with hearing differences
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and families
  • Adapt curriculum, resources, and classroom environments for accessibility
  • Deliver training and resources for staff regarding hearing loss and accommodations
  • Advocate for effective communication access throughout the school setting
  • Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with educational requirements
