Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience providing direct instruction and educational support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Knowledge of assistive technology and learning accommodations
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or other communication modalities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with general education staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Passion for empowering students to reach their fullest potential academically and socially
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and staff
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support access and comprehension for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Provide direct instruction in both one-on-one and small group settings, with sensitivity to each student’s preferred communication style
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote inclusion and provide training on effective practices and technologies
- Advocate for the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students within the school environment
