Teacher of the Deaf in Fontana, CA

Support the next generation of learners as a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a welcoming school community. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Experience providing direct instruction and educational support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
• Knowledge of assistive technology and learning accommodations
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or other communication modalities
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with general education staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Passion for empowering students to reach their fullest potential academically and socially

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and staff
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support access and comprehension for deaf and hard of hearing students
• Provide direct instruction in both one-on-one and small group settings, with sensitivity to each student’s preferred communication style
• Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote inclusion and provide training on effective practices and technologies
• Advocate for the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students within the school environment
