Qualifications/Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students with varied degrees of hearing loss
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and assistive technologies for DHH students
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to access learning for DHH students
- Provide direct instruction in both individual and small group settings, using a variety of communication methods
- Support general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are delivered effectively
- Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and adjust strategies accordingly
- Act as an advocate for students, promoting awareness and understanding within the school community
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings
