Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Forsyth, GA

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or closely related field
• Demonstrable experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school setting
• Deep understanding of various communication modes such as ASL, auditory/oral methods, cued speech, or total communication
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, students, and families
• Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning needs

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in small group settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure curriculum accessibility
• Participate in IEP development and implement individualized accommodations and modifications
• Advocate for student needs and facilitate communication between students, families, and staff
• Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate and confidential records
• Offer guidance and support to colleagues on effective strategies and tools for teaching students with hearing loss
