Empower students with hearing impairments by providing specialized instruction and support in a welcoming educational environment. As a contract Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing, your expertise will help students reach their full potential and participate fully in the classroom community.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used in deaf education
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss
  • Strong collaboration skills to work closely with general education staff, families, and support personnel
  • Compassion and creativity in designing engaging lessons for varying developmental and communication needs

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to each student’s unique abilities and communication preferences
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ educational and communication needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and administrators to integrate deaf education strategies into the broader curriculum
  • Support student participation in school activities and classroom discussions through appropriate accommodations and technology
  • Maintain documentation and progress reports in compliance with school and state requirements
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for students and their families
