Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience working with children and adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, including hearing aids, FM systems, and other devices
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support and intervention for students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, and families to ensure tailored support for each student
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction as needed
  • Develop educational materials and strategies to promote language acquisition and academic achievement
  • Guide students in both academic and social development, fostering self-advocacy and independence
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team planning sessions
