Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or the ability to obtain one
- Experience working with children and adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication and collaborative skills with staff, students, and families
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive technologies, including hearing aids, FM systems, and other devices
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and intervention for students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, and families to ensure tailored support for each student
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction as needed
- Develop educational materials and strategies to promote language acquisition and academic achievement
- Guide students in both academic and social development, fostering self-advocacy and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team planning sessions
