Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Franklin, TN

Qualifications:

• Valid state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing required
• Previous experience supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, classroom accommodations, and best practices in deaf education
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general and special education staff, students, and families
• Proficient in American Sign Language and/or other communication methods
• Strong organizational, advocacy, and communication abilities

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative instruction for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary school teams to support inclusive classroom experiences
• Assist in adapting curriculum materials and facilitating communication access
• Conduct ongoing assessments and use data to inform instruction and student goals
• Serve as a resource and advocate for staff, students, and families regarding hearing loss and programming
