Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements apply)
- Previous school-based experience preferred, but outstanding new graduates are welcome to apply
- Strong understanding of various communication methods (ASL, oral/auditory, or total communication)
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and approaches to fit individual student needs
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative educational services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that support each student’s learning goals
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations and modifications in the educational setting
- Support general and special education teachers by providing strategies and resources
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to families and staff
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom and school culture
