This contract role focuses on supporting and empowering students in an in-person school setting, drawing upon your specialized expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teacher certification with a Hearing Impairment (HI) endorsement
  • Direct classroom experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, assistive technologies, and communication methods (such as ASL, cued speech, or auditory/oral approaches)
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible and positive demeanor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the unique needs of students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans in accordance with IEP goals and best practices in deaf education
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching techniques to maximize student achievement and engagement
  • Collaborate closely with other teachers, administrators, and specialists to create a supportive learning environment
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students’ needs within the school community
