Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Special Education teaching certification with a Hearing Impairment (HI) endorsement.
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or in a similar capacity.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies, auditory/oral and visual communication strategies.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to liaise effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Comfortable providing both direct instruction and consultative support.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to meet varying student needs in-person.
  • Develop and monitor IEP goals, ensuring appropriate modifications and supports.
  • Utilize a range of communication methods to cater to student strengths and preferences.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates with parents and colleagues.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and participation.
