Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or Special Education
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or have additional learning needs
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with general education staff and related service providers
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring lessons to address individual learning plans
  • Develop and implement educational strategies that promote language acquisition and literacy
  • Utilize assistive technology and visual resources to enhance accessibility
  • Collaborate with families, support staff, and other educators to ensure a holistic approach to student development
  • Document student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to the creation and modification of IEP goals
  • Advocate for students’ needs within the school setting and ensure accommodations are consistently implemented
