Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with students who have hearing impairments, preferably in a school setting
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement accommodations and modifications
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language or other communication modalities
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
  • Dedication to helping students achieve academic, communication, and social-emotional goals

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments
  • Develop and implement IEP goals in collaboration with educational teams
  • Educate and advise school staff on best practices for supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed to optimize learning outcomes
  • Facilitate the use of assistive technologies and classroom accommodations
  • Support student advocacy and self-advocacy skills development
