Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility in Indiana)
- Background in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with assistive technology and strategies for auditory/oral and/or total communication approaches is highly valued
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for students across age groups and ability ranges
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in one-on-one and group settings
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to modify curriculum and classroom environments
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development, progress monitoring, and annual reviews
- Provide guidance to staff and parents on hearing loss, communication strategies, and advocacy
- Foster a positive, accessible, and supportive atmosphere for students and contribute to school-wide inclusion initiatives
