Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
• Experience working with children and adolescents with hearing impairments
• Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, American Sign Language (ASL), and alternative communication methods
• Ability to assess and adapt curriculum materials to accommodate individual learning plans
• Solid communication and organizational skills
• Compassionate approach with a commitment to fostering student independence and participation

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, tailoring teaching strategies to individual strengths and needs
• Collaborate closely with general educators, speech-language pathologists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Advocate for best practices in classroom acoustics and use of technology to enhance access
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
• Stay current with professional developments in deaf education and relevant instructional methods
