Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and current best practices in the field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing differences, adapting lessons for individualized needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum materials and create accessible learning experiences
- Utilize various teaching methodologies and technological supports
- Participate in IEP meetings; assess and document student progress, adjusting goals as necessary
- Serve as a resource to school staff and families, providing information on strategies to support D/HH learners
- Cultivate an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that empowers students
