Desired Qualifications:

  • Hold valid credentials as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
  • Strong understanding of auditory and communication needs, including sign language or total communication approaches
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Knowledge of current educational tools, assistive technology, and adaptive resources
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction either individually or in small groups to students with hearing loss
  • Assess, monitor, and document student progress toward IEP goals; adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Consult regularly with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student participation and appropriate accommodations
  • Advocate for students’ access to educational resources, including interpreting services and amplification devices
  • Participate in IEP meetings, provide expertise and recommendations, and assist in developing effective strategies for inclusion
