This contract opportunity is located in the Gulfport, MS area and is designed for professionals passionate about facilitating accessible learning environments for students with auditory impairments.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive listening devices
- Ability to adapt curriculum and educational materials for diverse language and communication needs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
- Flexibility and problem-solving abilities to address individual student needs in varying settings
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using methods tailored to individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Assessing students’ academic, social, and communication progress and adjusting strategies accordingly
- Consulting and collaborating regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Supporting inclusion by providing resources, training, and advocacy for staff and families
- Maintaining thorough documentation and compliance records
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to ongoing goal-setting and progress reviews
