Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Gulfport, MS

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state requirements apply)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
• Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school settings
• Proficiency using sign language (ASL or SEE)
• Ability to develop and implement IEPs
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
• Commitment to promoting inclusive classroom environments
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices and educational technology is a plus

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss
• Adapt curriculum, assessments, and instruction to meet individual learning needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service staff, and families
• Support student self-advocacy, social skills, and language development
• Monitor and document student progress; participate in IEP meetings
• Advise staff on best practices for accommodating and supporting students
