Teacher of the Deaf in Gulfport, MS

Ideal candidates will possess:

• Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive listening devices
• Ability to adapt curriculum and educational materials for diverse language and communication needs
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
• Flexibility and problem-solving abilities to address individual student needs in varying settings

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using methods tailored to individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Assessing students’ academic, social, and communication progress and adjusting strategies accordingly
• Consulting and collaborating regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
• Supporting inclusion by providing resources, training, and advocacy for staff and families
• Maintaining thorough documentation and compliance records
• Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to ongoing goal-setting and progress reviews
