Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Deep understanding of instructional techniques, language development, and assistive technology for students with hearing impairments
  • Experience in classroom or resource settings supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration abilities with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to adapt lessons, modify curriculum, and create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with sign language (ASL, SEE, or other relevant communication methods)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction that meets the unique needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in both individual and small group settings
  • Support language acquisition, auditory skill-building, and academic success
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff
  • Advocate for accessible classroom environments and support the use of amplification systems and visual aids
  • Monitor student progress and maintain clear, timely documentation for IEPs and related reports
  • Communicate proactively with families to encourage student growth and engagement
