Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in educational settings
- Familiarity with sign language (ASL), communication modes, and assistive technology
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, parents, and students
- Commitment to professional development and adapting best teaching practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum as needed
- Assess students’ abilities and track progress toward academic and communication goals
- Support classroom teachers with accommodations, modifications, and inclusion strategies
- Consult with families and team members, advocating for student needs
- Maintain accurate records and ongoing documentation for student files
