Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials preferred)
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments, including knowledge of assistive technology and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
  • Passion for advocacy, accessibility, and student success

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
  • Develop, monitor, and implement goals within students’ IEPs
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff
  • Advocate for students’ needs and help adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
  • Engage with families and ensure ongoing communication about student progress
  • Stay current with best practices and professional development opportunities
