Desired Qualifications and Background:

  • Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience with individualized education plans (IEPs) and providing direct and consultative services
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff
  • Proficient communication skills in both spoken and written English; American Sign Language proficiency preferred
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with students of varying abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to their unique learning requirements
  • Develop, implement, and modify IEPs in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
  • Offer both direct teaching and consultative services to ensure student accessibility and participation
  • Contribute to a positive, encouraging classroom atmosphere that honors diverse learning needs
  • Provide progress reports, assessments, and ongoing documentation
