Key Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in PreK-12 settings preferred
- Strong understanding of assistive hearing technology and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Create and implement individualized instructional plans to meet student needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and staff to integrate accessible strategies and modifications
- Provide direct instruction tailored to a range of students, utilizing American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods as appropriate
- Act as an advocate and resource for students and families, helping them navigate educational challenges
- Monitor academic progress, document outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings
- Deliver training and support for staff in best practices for working with deaf and hard of hearing students
