Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold a valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a school environment
- Strong knowledge of current educational strategies and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used by D/HH students
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ diverse needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an accessible, supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Provide direct instruction, support, and advocacy for students across various grade levels
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, speech pathologists, and families
- Monitor student progress and adjust educational strategies as needed
- Participate in the IEP process, contributing valuable insight regarding student goals and accommodations
- Utilize educational technology and visual aids to enhance learning experiences
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community
