Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or willingness to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Previous experience working in school settings with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing a plus
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Comfortable adapting general education curriculum to meet individualized student needs
  • Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with students, parents, and staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in accordance with IEPs
  • Modify curriculum and classroom materials to create an accessible learning environment
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to facilitate student success
  • Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, providing valuable input for student goal-setting
  • Advocate for student needs and help ensure equitable access to educational resources and activities
