Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students across varied age groups who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curriculum
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families
- Proficiency in sign language or other communication modalities used by deaf and hard of hearing students
- Commitment to fostering positive learning experiences and promoting self-advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in mainstream or self-contained settings
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, families, and staff
- Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Advocate for students’ needs while encouraging independence and confidence
