Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with students across varied age groups who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curriculum
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families
  • Proficiency in sign language or other communication modalities used by deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Commitment to fostering positive learning experiences and promoting self-advocacy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in mainstream or self-contained settings
  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs
  • Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, families, and staff
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility
  • Track progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Advocate for students’ needs while encouraging independence and confidence
