Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other accessible communication methods
  • Previous experience in educational settings preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students and adapt instruction to individual needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement customized lesson plans to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust strategies as necessary
  • Work closely with general education teachers to provide consultation services and facilitate inclusion
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights for student success
  • Provide guidance to students and families on communication strategies and technology
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech-language pathologists and audiologists
