Key Qualifications:
- State certification (or eligible) as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience providing specialized instruction to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, preferably across varied grade levels (K-12)
- Strong skills in IEP development, implementation, and data-driven progress monitoring
- Comfort working with assistive technology and interpreting audiological assessments
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Flexibility to travel between sites within the district as an itinerant teacher
- Dedication to culturally responsive and inclusive educational practices
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to DHH students aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to foster student success
- Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate each student’s needs
- Provide ongoing support and resources to staff on best practices in deaf education
- Monitor student progress, update documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Adapt teaching approaches based on evolving student requirements
- Maintain open, positive relationships with students, families, and district staff
